Raiders Tirol sign former XFL quarterback D'Angelo Fulford

After a long period, the Raiders Tirol are the last team in the European League of Football to announce their quarterback for the 2024 season. D'Angelo Fulford will be the new athlete under center for the Austrian franchise. The 26-year-old US-American is a three-time All American and National Champion with Division III school University of Mount Union. There, he was the starting quarterback from 2016 to 2019. Joining the B.C. Lions in 2021 and XFL Vegas Vipers in 2023, Fulford now gets his shots in Europe.

Excitement from all sides

D’Angelo Fulford: "I’m excited to announce that I’ll be with the Raiders Tirol this season and get a chance to represent that incredible organization in the European League of Football. It’s an honor to be a part of such a prestigious program with such a rich football history and culture. The fan base – I already feel the love over there, and I’m excited to get going. Tivoli Stadium is amazing. I don’t really think the pictures do it justice, but to be a kid from South Florida to now have a home in the mountains – I just can’t wait to get out there and light it up. The guys in Tirol, they’re hungry and I’m ready to have a football family again, and I’m just ready to be a part of something bigger than me. To all the fans out there: Get ready for some big plays, some nail biting moments, some incredible memories. Let’s make this season one for the books. Thank you for bringing me in and making me feel like family. Let’s do it. Go Raiders!"

History with his new head coach Herrmann

With head coach Herrmann, there is history with the new quarterback. Herrmann, in 2023 still with the San Antonio Brahmas, coached against Fulford's Vipers in week 7. Jim Herrmann: "When we started our search for QB there were some very specific attributes that I felt were essential that we must have from that position. He must be a proven winner, someone who has taken his team to a Championship. He must be a true Leader, someone who can walk into our organization and immediately gain the respect from his teammates, coaches and everyone involved in the organization. Very important to me is that he is a competitor, no matter what he will fight to win till the final click on the clock. We found all of that in D’Angelo Fullford."

Ulz Däuber, General Manager Football: "D’Angelo is a proven winner who makes everyone around him better. His leadership and playmaking ability is exactly what we need offensively."
